Volumes 1, 3, and 6 through 13 from the edited and reset 1946 edition of the 20-volume Wanguo set. Contemporary paper wrappers show wear and light smudging, with occasional chips with loss; text is similarly worn with occasional tears but intact overall. Item #2796

Here are multiple volumes from a storytelling tradition rooted in the Fuzhou dialect. The printing was aimed at preserving legends, customs, religion, proverbs, historical lore, and narratives involving Taiwan and overseas regions and is often used as supplemental material for the study of Fujian local history, folklore, linguistics, and literary history. These volumes from the 1946 edition descend from Dong Zhiyi's arranged text and are an important Republican-era witness.
